bertrand Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 iTunes has the Airplane 'Loves You' box which seems to have alternates of several tracks from the Volunteers album: 'We Can Be Together', 'Volunteers', 'Hey Frederick' and 'Wooden Ships' (allegedly an alternate mix but the timings don't match). Has anyone heard these and have any thoughts on them? Does Jorma take a totally different long solo on 'Frederick'? Thanks, Bertrand. Quote

Picked up the box in the early 90's - havn't listened to it for years - these are quadraphonic alternate takes & mixes Wooden Ships - quad alt mix (5:55) Volunteers - quad alt take (2:17) We Can Be Together - quad alt take (6:04) Hey Frederick - quad alt take (9:07) - can't comment on differences between JK's solos as I don't have an original quad recording Quote

Alternates didn't change my life, and I love the 60's recordings. Quote
