sidewinder Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 (edited) This collection is truly obscene ! Edited November 16, 2011 by sidewinder Quote
clifford_thornton Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 Ha! Since I know you've got a lot of those, when's your video coming along? Quote
sidewinder Posted November 17, 2011 Author Report Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) Ha! Since I know you've got a lot of those, when's your video coming along? There's a few on there I would like to have ('Storm Warning' for starters). My video would last about 2 hours as I would be taking great care of taking the LPs out and putting them back again instead of flinging them into a random pile onto the floor. clifford_thornton Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 Yeah, noticed that too. Quote
Ted O'Reilly Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 Sideways! Can't watch it. Isn't there a way to rotate these things, or am I the only one who's bugged by it? Quote
Noj Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 There's a couple picks from my BFT in there. Quote
Clunky Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 Apart from jealousy, I felt uneasy watching that and looking at the website. I love the pleasure of finding an unusual LP in wee shop ,not buying them ay huge prices on eBay. That video seemed make the LPs little more than a trading commodity to be bought and sold by the book for as much as possible. It should be about the music. Quote
sidewinder Posted November 17, 2011 Author Report Posted November 17, 2011 I hear you ! Nice to see them all gathered together like that though and too bad there's still some of them to reissue. 'Hum Dono' for starters. If only the selections in our local Oxfam Shops were like that. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) Those Tubby Hayes LPs were in gnarly shape. I am fine with Jasmine and Sawano reissues and CDs for those - no need to have "beater" originals. Edited November 17, 2011 by clifford_thornton Quote
sidewinder Posted November 18, 2011 Author Report Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) You mean the 'Mexican Green' with the front cover cut out? Maybe an old copy from one of Tubby's ex-girlfriends? It's a scarce one in good condition , yes, but that copy is pretty extreme. The Tubby Tempos are scarce in any condition so, quite impressed just to see them there. Sawanos are the way to go on those unless you are a banker. On the other hand, was impressed with the condition of the Rendell/Carr 'Shades of Blue' - at least, what they are showing of the visual condition of the sleeve. 'Dusk Fire' looks nice too. brownie Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) What struck me was - with rare exceptions - the constant high quality preservation of those albums. The majority of albums I purchased new look about the same but many of the secondhand LPs I have are in the nearmint to bad range with too many in the lower category. sidewinder Posted November 18, 2011 Author Report Posted November 18, 2011 Yes, incredible that so many of those 40 year old sleeves look to be near-mint. Unusual to see that so consistently e.g. for the Lansdowne series titles. Quote
