I just reacquired the "LTD in New York" album with Bobby Hutcherson, Blue Mitchell & Stanley Turrentine. As I recall, this was the only Pacific title ever released on CD and it smokes!!

McCann's playing is truly underrated. If Mosaic can do a select for Curtis Amy, surely Les McCann must also be an option. Great music!

Sorry to expose myself as a charter of the "jazz elite", but I think the quality of this music falls far short of Mosaic standards. I never buy a McCann disc unless someone much stronger is on it.

Hmm.

I love the McCann Pacific Jazz trio sides that I have heard. They vibrate the blues with exuberance, and manage to generate their own unique groove. Maybe it's nothing fancy, but it's good enough me.
