Bassist Don Bagley died last week.

Bought the CD reissues (Blue Moon) of his "Basically Bagley" and "Jazz On The Rocks" LPs from the 50s some time ago and like them a lot.

And yet weirdly consistently under-recorded (in terms of volume) by Kenton, or whoever at Capitol made that decision. But good time, him & Stan Levey swung like hell together behind the soloists in that band.
