GA Russell Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 Google has a new feature. If you type in a famous person's name followed by bacon number, Google will say how many degrees that person is separated from Kevin Bacon. Congratulate me, boys! I'm three degrees from Kevin Bacon! As you know, I have met two women who were internationally famous for their beauty, so I plugged their names in. Stephanie Zimbalist is only 2 degrees from Bacon, and Jean the Shrimp Shrimpton is only 3 degrees separated from him. So you add one degree for yourself to the number of the famous person you have met, and there you go. Quote
BruceH Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 I think I'm at least a Master's Degree away from him. Quote
Spontooneous Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 Maybe this belongs in the Chappaqua Suite thread: Ornette Coleman's Bacon number is 3 Ornette Coleman and William S. Burroughs appeared in Chappaqua. William S. Burroughs and Tim Robbins appeared in Twister. Tim Robbins and Kevin Bacon appeared in Mystic River. Quote
BruceH Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 And my family used to own a copy of the Twister game. So there you have it. Quote
Pete C Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 None. We're identical twins. Bacon and I shared an egg. Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 I have nothing in common with him, though I have determined recently that I am connected to every major musical and political development of the 20th century - Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 (edited) meaning: Bird, Elvis, DW Griffith, and WEB DuBois. Edited September 16, 2012 by AllenLowe Quote
Pete C Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 DW Griffith, and WEB DuBois. I used to enjoy their Point-Counterpoint segment on 60 Minutes. Quote
Quincy Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 Also 3 as I have a cousin who worked on a Speilberg project. This was some relief as otherwise the connection is through orgassimo's favorite son Ken Burns. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 (edited) I had two strips this morning, so I'm pretty connected right now. Okay, I checked and the best I could find was 3, having sold comic books to Bill Mumy in the past. Edited September 16, 2012 by Jazzmoose Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 well, Pete C, I've met both Adolf Zukor and Martin Luther King. Quote
RDK Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 I once stood next to him at a urinal, so... 90 degrees? Quote
JSngry Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 I once stood next to him at a urinal, so... 90 degrees? in which direction? Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 spray is variable - wind conditions, etc. Quote
kinuta Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 Dunno if this is valid but Kevin Bacon was in The River Wild with Meryl Streep who played Mrs Thatcher who I said hello to as she walked round Kinokuniya book shop in Shinjuku. Quote

Congrats kinuta! You're in the lead with 2 degrees! Quote

Pete C Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 So far I'm a 3 via either Spalding Gray or Willem Dafoe (I met them when I documented a performance piece by The Wooster Group they both appeared in about 30 years ago). Quote
Noj Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 I'm three degrees from Kevin Bacon, via Edward Furlong who I once burned a doobie with. Quote
ejp626 Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 I can't seem to get this to work, but the browser may be so outdated. I'll try again from home. I do have the same name as an actor with 4 degrees of Bacon, so I figure that puts me at 5. Quote
JSngry Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 I played a gig in 1982 (iirc) for Prince Charles that Merv Griffin emceed, so that makes it 2 Degrees (east), as I actually mouthed "fuck you, bitch" to Merv as he walked by backstage. That counts as "meeting", right? Merv acted like he might not have noticed, but this was in Albuquerque, and the high altitude can slow your reaction time until you get acclimated to it. Quote
Pete C Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 Hey, how come Morty Gunty has no Bacon number? He was in Broadway Danny Rose. I appeared on his kids' show in 1964, The Funny Company. Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 you knew Morty Gunty? There's a name from my entertainment past. Like that guy. Quote
