Here's a two-piano effort: Harold with the young Geoff Keezer...a live recording in Toronto that I did for Sackville Records.

It's a good one, but for me most two piano recordings are one piano too many. Generally too much effort required to figure out who's playing what and when. I'm lazy.

Hope you exempt Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson from that, John! ;)

Well, I said, "most." And watching two pianists visually is no problem at all, quite entertaining, actually.

Listening can be a different story though.

This one for example, is a muddle to my ears; a poor mixing job (very hard to get right with duo piano albums)

I have heard Mabern live two tmes in the last month. First with the Vincent Herring/Eric Alexander Quintet and yesterday in a band led by bassist Nat Reeves with Eric Alexander, Steve Davis, Joe Farnsworth and a few guests. He is still playing strong!

You're lucky! At least we've had Eric over here - twice in the last 18 months. :tup

Harold Mabern will be in town in January, very much looking forward to this, will reserve tickets today. Trio with John Webber and Joe Farnsworth - ordered the Smoke Sessions CD as an appetizer.
