Hal Galper "Inner Journey" (Mainstream) 1973 - would love to see this being reissued (by ACE)........

Send them an e-mail and suggest it....

@Head Man : common thoughts ;-)...actually I`ve posted this here while hoping other interested Forum Members would also write to ACE

http://acerecords.co.uk/pages/contact

and inquire reg. subject reissue establishing sort of broader demand. Of course I already did so and also suggested this in another german language Jazz Forum today in the morning....based on some experiences in the Soul area I do know that ACE (also) takes in account collector`s perspective :)

They should also do the fabulous "Ellerine" by Ellerine Harding, while they're at it - plenty of goodies in the Mainstream catalogue!

Harold Land`s "Damisi" comes to my mind.......and of course "Another Shade of Blue".....

Funny, but the Mainstream label was not one that released many recordings that I liked. The Sonny Red and the Clark Terry/ Bob Brookmeyer were the most interesting to me. They also reissued on CD some ealy material by Getz, Quinichette and other tenor players that I am glad to have. The things by Blue Mitchell, Hal Galper, Frank Foster, Harold Land and others were not particularly good examples of their playing in my opinion.

And here are the two Buddy Terry's. (He did a third for the label, 'Lean on Him', but it was very different than these two, a gospel album). There are also a number of stray tracks that came out on Mainstream sampler CD's that would make great bonus tracks.

Ace Records' Boplicity label is reissuing Harold Land's Choma (Burn). No release date given and there is no link on Amazon UK yet.

Wardell Gray's Way Out Wardell and Louis Armstrong's And His Friends are forthcoming as well:

good news (at least to me) regarding "choma" - what`leaves me somehow stunned ist the fact that ace ist not using the original album`s artefact as a whole and in if there was a need being a little bit "creative" reg. artwork, why is this now different to foster`s "loud minority" and has to be part of the "boblicity" series with the "fat" logo featured on it......or is this just me being too stubborn and picky  ??...just wondering, and even more so, as there is a lot of respect regarding ACE as reissue company with me.....

PS and with alice clarke "the complete studio recordings 1968-1972" a third different approach from ACE to use mainstream`s original coverart.......

Update as of April 9th : either yesterday me being weary eyed or simply unable to realize facts, but the cover design seems rather in line with the recent frank foster "loud minority" reissue - profound apology from my side !!

Bringing this one back up - can anyone comment on the sound of the Loud Minority release? Curious for that one, as well as to whether I should track down their issue of Self-Determination Music when that comes out, as well as some of the Leon Thomas releases.
