JSngry Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 The whole sheet, front and back, looks like a picture-sleeve 45. Imagine sending your mail with Jimi Hendrix stamps. Now you can.And now I will, thank you, America, I guess, right? So, what else will I live to see? Quote
jlhoots Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 I bought them a week or so ago when I ran out of my Ray Charles stamps. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 The Miles Davis stamp (w/ the Jack Johnson pose!!) was 100x better!! Quote
JSngry Posted April 7, 2014 Author Report Posted April 7, 2014 The Miles Davis stamp (w/ the Jack Johnson pose!!) was 100x better!! You mean it made the mail move 100x faster? Maybe Amazon UK should have used them on them Filmore sets not headed to America just yet! Quote
Jazzmoose Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Awesome; I'm starting to run low on Ray Charles and Johnny Cash... Quote
BFrank Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 I thought the artwork was cheesy, but I guess I should get a sheet anyway. The fact that Jimi is on a USPS stamp is reason enough! Quote
7/4 Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 I wasn't too excited by the design. Any photo of Jimi looks hipper than that stamp. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 I am waiting for the Charlie Patton stamp. Quote
Hot Ptah Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 How about the Art Tatum stamp? When will that happen? It is rather amazing that Jimi Hendrix is on a stamp though. In 1970 it did not seem likely at all. He was a symbol of all that many adults found so wrong about that crazy younger generation. Quote

I told her that gee, this is proof that in some parallel universe somewhere, everything went right. She didn't really get it, but the old guy at the station next to her's LOL'ed. Quote
Hot Ptah Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 I know several people age 15-40 who certainly do not know who Jimi Hendrix is. Since he was not a hip hop or post-2000 pop country artist, they would not understand why anyone would know who he is. So the young postal employee's reaction does not surprise me. Quote

paul secor Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 Hendrix, Joplin - Just says to me that the Post Office will do anything to sell some stamps - especially if people save them and don't use them. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 Back in the day my mother gave me a full sheet of this Ellington stamp. I still have it. Quote
