colinmce Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 Just checking on something. So music from this 1955 recording comprised the B side of the Atlantic LP. As far as getting a complete reel of this performance my options are thus, no?: 1) 1981 Atlantic 2xLP Unreleased Performances - 13 tracks 2) Mosaic Set - ?? tracks (Discogs list Art Taylor on Disc 1 tracks 1-10 and Disc 2-10; not sure if that is all sourced from the Sing Sing tapes) 3) Illegal Gambit CD - 18 tracks The Mosaic is on my long-term wish list but not feasible today. I am about to grab the old 2xLP but am more curious than anything what the story is here. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 Follow your instinct or steal a burn of the Gambit. I only buy those as cut-outs. Quote
romualdo Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 The Mosaic set has 21 tracks (from 5 live sets) Sing Song Room, Confucius Restaurant, NYC The Gambit CD contains the 18 tracks that were released on the Double LP "The Lennie Tristano Quartet" (Atl 7006 - 13 titles) & the single LP "Tristano" (Atl 1224 - 5 titles) - excludes the three titles released on the Mosaic set (further 20mins of music ) Quote
clifford_thornton Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 the double LP is usually very cheap. You can always give it to a friend when you procure the Mosaic set. Quote
colinmce Posted September 24, 2014 Author Report Posted September 24, 2014 Yep, I grabbed one for $8 Quote
mjzee Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 My copy of the double Atlantic LP was pretty noisy. I'd love to see a good legitimate rerelease of this material. Too bad Mosaic's been there done that. Quote
