romualdo Posted December 8, 2014 Report Posted December 8, 2014 suppose this will be for Chuck What was the last Nessa LP release? - I'm thinking n24, Hal Russell's Eftsoons Did n25 (NRG Ensemble with Charles Tyler) & n26 (Leo Smith - Procession…) get a vinyl issue by Chief or was their first release only a CD affair by this UK label? Both of these sessions were recorded in the early 80's but not released till the end of the decade (89) Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 8, 2014 Report Posted December 8, 2014 N-24 was the highest catalog number issued on vinyl but N-18 (Bradford/Stevens vol 2) was issued after that. I prepared metal work and test pressings for Procession, but it was never manufactured. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted December 8, 2014 Report Posted December 8, 2014 Do you have any unused sleeves for Les Stances a Sophie? Mine is pretty worn. Quote

romualdo Posted December 9, 2014 Author Report Posted December 9, 2014 Another question for you Chuck Leo Smith's "Spirit Catcher" was recorded by RVG (listed on the CD liner notes) - was this at his Englewood Cliffs studio or was he visiting Chicago at the time? Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 sadly i only have the warne but i look forward to locating others Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 Spirit Catcher and Roscoe Mitchell's L-R-G were recorded in Englewood Cliffs. Charles Tyler's Saga of the Outlaws was mixed and edited there as well. Quote
colinmce Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 Might as well ask this here as it's something I've always wondered and never bothered to find out: is the EC RVG studio still around? Is it still more or less the same as it was or has it been renovated? Quote
alankin Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 I'm not sure how much Van Gelder is working, but I know that he recorded several sessions for HighNote in 2012. He has an assistant, but I don't remember her name right now. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 AFAIK the building is still standing and Rudy still lives there. Rudy's assistant is/was Maureen Sickler, wife of Don. Quote
