Omar Sharif, the dashing, Egyptian-born actor who was one of the biggest movie stars in the world in the 1960s, with memorable roles in Dr. ZhivagoLawrence of Arabia and Funny Girl, has died. He was 83.

Sharif suffered a heart attack on Friday afternoon in a hospital in Cairo, his agent said.

It was announced in May 2015 that he was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

I liked his performance in Dr, Zhivago

Aw, I'm really sorry to hear that. I have enjoyed watching his movies. Yes, his role in Dr Zhivago was nice indeed.
R.I.P. Omar Sharif.

On another note, I'm looking for strong faces to draw to practise my portrait skills and he would make a great subject I think.

He was apparently quite the gambler at one time.  I always liked seeing him in a movie.  I think the last one I saw with him was "Thirteenth Warrior," but there may have been something more recent.  RIP.
