Lester Young recording question

Does anyone know about a small group date Pres made in the period of '37-'41 with a trumpet player? It may've been Buck Clayton. I asked Phil Schaap about it, but he insisted there was no such date. But I heard it on the radio (WKCR), I didn't dream it---and it was fantastic playing by Pres. Just didn't catch the name of the recording.

Any ideas? I'd be much-obliged as this is must-have music.

if live, then it may be one of these

Between February 27 and March 17, 1941 (February 15, 1941?)
Lester Young & his Band
Manhattan Center, New York City
Shad Collins t; Lester Young ts; John Collins g; Nick Fenton b; Doc West d
 Tickle Toe
 Taxi War Dance

December 2, 1941
Lester & Lee Young’s Band
Club Capri, Hollywood
Paul Campbel t; Lester Young & Bumps Myers ts; Jimmy Rowles p; Red Callender b; Lee Young d
 Untitled Original  / Blues (Theme)

1 jun 1942
Los Angeles,  Billy Berg's Trouville Club
Lester and Lee Young Band,    Trumpet - Red 'Mack' Morris
4-6 tunes, 2 are with holiday.

if studio, then schaap's probably right.

I do think it was a studio date. I was half asleep when he played it, but I'm sure the scant outline I gave is correct. Doubt that that helps, though.

Let's expand the search to include any pre-army Lester, same criteria.

2. Tickle Toe (Young) 5:25
3. Taxi War Dance (Basie-Young) 5:19

That's one amazing session ... sorta pre-cool (Pres was the true king of cool anyways) what without piano and all that ...

John Collins was one of the greatest and most under-appreciated guitarists.

That is just beautiful Lester! And he sings!

JazzArcheology. Com. has personnel and details:

LEE AND LESTER YOUNG'S BAND

“A Little Bit South Of North Carolina”  Prob. Hollywood, Feb ~July 1942 (Acetate probably made by a fan in a club, probably Club Capri).

"Red" Mack Morris (tp, vo), Bumps Myers, Lester Young (ts, vo), Jimmy Rowles (p), Louis Gonzales (g), Red Callender (b), Lee Young (dm, vo).

That Lester sang has been confirmed by Lee Young.

lp, thanks for posting that!

i posted this tune not only because some may not have heard it, but because discographies list it as a club in los angeles, and the backing band as also singing the harmony vocals.

the harmony vocals sound too perfect for this to be a nightclub performance. i think it may be a studio recording?
