Nope, just offerings on the HBO/TCM streaming app. They have different genres, and I've been focusing on Noir, Gangster, and Pre-Code. They aren't all "great" but they're all entertaining  Plus, most of these are 90 minutes or less, so watching 2,3,4 a day is easy. Fun! Quote
Rabshakeh Posted January 10 Report Posted January 10 I love that stuff. I re watched The Asphalt Jungle recently. Big favourite. Quote
JSngry Posted January 10 Author Report Posted January 10 The Pre-Code stuff is really a treat. Sex, drugs, slapping, and guns aplenty. No profanity, but none needed. Quote
felser Posted January 10 Report Posted January 10 Shockingly good little movie, unexpectedly packs an emotional punch, as well as enjoyable story, some very funny parts, and a soundtrack which should (but won''t) win a grammy as the best pop album of 2025. Carey Mulligan is a fabulous actress, also really struck me with her portrayal of NYT journalist Megan Twohey in 'She Said'. She's been nominated for oscars for best actress three times. ejp626 Posted January 11 Report Posted January 11 It's going to be a Godard weekend. I'll be watching Breathless a bit later tonight (at home, however) and then Contempt (Le Mepris) tomorrow in a theatre. Quote

ejp626 Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 Just saw Lynch's Mulholland Drive for the first time. What a mind-bender that is. I'm still trying to get my head around what actually happened and what was a dream and/or some parallel universe formed when some event happened one way in one universe and the reverse happened in the other. It's an entertaining mess anyway . See the production notes here,: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Today_We_Live  Just finished with one of the films that is said to have caused the end of the Pre-Code period: Barbara Stanwyck fucks her way up the ladder and doesn't give a damn who she ruins in the process Pre-Code like a mo, even if it does have a "happy" ending  Quote
