Tom 1960
Strange that I've never come across this prior. Thoughts, comments?

Another winner from the EmAcy 50`s vocal department (beneath Helen Merrill and Dinah Washington) ..... btw all forementioned with priceless Clifford Brown contributions .... Tom 1960
While I've never been a huge fan of jazz vocalists, the fact that Brownie is included makes these recordings worth considering.
felser
It's great. That and "Swingin' Easy" are her go-to albums for me. Her voice would never again be as pure and beautiful.

Even though it deepened over the years, I always thought that Sassy's voice stayed remarkably pure and beautiful all the way up to the end. Indeed, amazingly so. Sinatra and Ella both deteriorated noticeably as they aged, but Sarah Vaughan seemed immune to me. gregmo

Almost as powerful as 50 years ago. I have the record in question on the Jazz Hour label cd. Is this the same variant as what you have? gmonahan
Sorry, Dmitry, was that query meant for me? I have all of Sarah's Emarcy stuff on the Complete Mercury Recordings box sets. Can't get enough Sassy! gregmo
skeith
Tom 1960 I think this recording is sublime....great performances and choice of songs. One of my all time favorite jazz vocalist recordings ever.
Gheorghe
Yeah, great stuff and I love it. It´s interesting that Sarah also did some tracks with Miles around 1950 so that was before the date with Brownie. I´s great to hear lyrical trumpet players with great singers.
