clifford_thornton Posted January 22, 2017 Report Posted January 22, 2017 Drummer for the German progressive rock band Can (also in Manfred Schoof's 1960s group and the Globe Unity Orchestra, among others) Jaki Liebezeit has died at age 78 after a short illness. Sad news from the group's official Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/officialCan/?fref=ts Quote
mjazzg Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 Sad indeed. His rhythms were so essential to the Can sound Quote

Carl Baugher Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 Jaki was a real original. Nobody played like him. Perfect for the music of Can. He'll be missed. Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted January 24, 2017 Report Posted January 24, 2017 RIP to one of the truly great ones discovering Can in the early 90's was an incredible experience the 68-73 recordings remain essential to my life today which is very unusual for a "rock" band not named The Grateful Dead or possibly 72-74 King Crimson or Captain Beefheart.
