Snooks Eaglin: The Complete Imperial Recordings

I love that stuff, especially the intensity of "That Certain Door."

Some performers were better suited to the LP format, where they could be listened to in 15-18 minute doses.  I had to stop listening to this after track 16 (out of 21) on this CD -- just too much of a trad jazz overload!  Spirited playing recorded in decent sound, but a little bit goes a long way.

Traffic - The Definitive Collection (Island / Universal)
Not enough music here to actually be a "definitive collection," imho.  But what's included is very good indeed.

So good!  :tup:tup:tup   . . . As is the companion LP, Compassion.

Santana - Borboletta (Columbia)
I grew up listening to this album. It was one of my father's LPs, and he played it often.  I still love it.  Of course, when I was a kid, I had no idea that there were so many jazz musicians on it (Airto, Flora, Stanley Clarke).  Hearing this type of music almost certainly "planted the seeds" for my subsequent interest in jazz.
