I don't have a lot of her music, perhaps 8 or 9 recordings, but this is among my favorites along with her Maybeck Recital Hall CD. I only saw Ms. Brackeen perform twice, each time in a solo setting, so perhaps that's why I like her solo recordings. Her other Arkadia Jazz CD, Pink Elephant Magic, is really good too. Dave Liebman, Nicholas Payton and Chris Potter appear on that one Quote

Dan Gould Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 Jay McShann - Milt Buckner, Kansas City Memories (Black & Blue) I have all the other McShann Black & Blues so why did I sleep on this one? Maybe not wanting another pianist/organ with Jay? I am clueless but this is another great session, they blend together beautifully, and Gatemouth and Arnett Cobb are featured on half the tracks.
