Buddha the Magnificent Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 Emilio Teubal & La Balteuband - Un Monton de Notas (Not Yet Records, 2009). E Teubal - piano, accordion; X Perez - soprano, tenor sax, flute; F Salles - tenor, soprano sax, b clarinet, flute; M Fukushima - bass; F Prima - drums; K Solomon, I Barenboim - clarinet; G Heffernan - cello; M Woloski - perc. I got to knowing Emilio through his 2013 release Música Para un Dragon Dormido, a Dave Sumner reco a few years back. This older release is decent enough on first listen, with hints of what's to come in compositions like [T] la Arania '08. Quote
Buddha the Magnificent Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 Kevin Eubanks - Live at Bradley's (Blue Note, 1994). Kevin Eubanks - guitar; James Williams - piano; Robert Hurst - bass. I'm not sure how a guitarist's trio can be recorded live with the guitar so absolutely buried by the piano and bass. The mix is better on the 1953 recording of the Quintet's Live at Massey Hall. Blue note should be ashamed. That being said, James Williams flat out burns.the house down on several cuts. Quote
