MG I've never been disappointed by anything Johnny Lytle did! Now playing The (unofficial) CD reissue adds 2 bonus tracks. Edited September 4, 2018 by duaneiac Quote

jeffcrom Posted September 4, 2018 Report Posted September 4, 2018 George Adams/Don Pullen Quartet - Live at the Village Vanguard, Vol. 2 (Soul Note) Miles Davis - "Circle in the Round" from the Quintet 1965-1968 box set. I have wanted to like this piece for years. The editing, done by Teo Macero in 1968, is driving me crazy right now- the splices are all too apparent, and the damn thing is far too long. Miles recorded this in pieces, and I think a killer 15-20 minute version could be put together. I wish somebody would take another shot at it. Quote

duaneiac Posted September 5, 2018 Report Posted September 5, 2018 Disc 2 of 3, which represents the years 1934-36. This set from the Indiana Historical Society includes a great 108 page book with lots of vintage photos and informative text about the various shows, songs and performers included in this collection. There are a number of jazz performers included such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Art Tatum, Artie Shaw, Bud Freeman & Bob Wilber, Billie Holiday, Benny Goodman and the wonderful Lee Wiley.
