That`s a funny coincidence - a longt-time tradition with my best pal aka "blacksaint" requires in the last hours of the year to play this one .... : Quote
Peter Friedman Posted December 31, 2018 Report Posted December 31, 2018 This Cd has very good booklet notes by Lee Konitz as well as some fine guitar jazz. Quote
duaneiac Posted December 31, 2018 Report Posted December 31, 2018 Disc 2 of 2. Taj Mahal is a performer who really does not seem to get as much credit as he is due. He's quite a versatile singer & musician and has been putting out consistently good records for almost 50 years now. Give this man the Kennedy Center Honors at the very least. Quote

jeffcrom Posted January 1, 2019 Report Posted January 1, 2019 Oscar "Papa" Celestin - With Adolphe Alexander (American Music). By the time these 1950 & 1954 sessions were made, Celestin and his band were considered kind of "touristy" and lightweight by jazz purists. This CD sure sounds good to me tonight, though - good-natured, non-doctrinaire, eclectic New Orleans music with enough grit to add some depth. Quote
Brad Posted January 1, 2019 Report Posted January 1, 2019 Chet Baker on trumpet with saxophnist Stan Getz at Stockholm's Södra Teatern in Sweden in February 1983, backed by pianist Jim McNeely, bassist George Mraz and drummer Victor Lewis. Quote
