Pieranunzi & Motian also made another duo record for CamJazz called Doorways. It's also well worth seeking out. NP: Kenny Werner Trio - Animal Crackers (Pirouet, 2017) I love Werner's trio with Johannes Weidenmuller and Ari Hoenig. They've been making music together for 20 years! Larry Kart Posted December 26, 2019 Report Posted December 26, 2019 A good one from 1977. Perhaps the presence of Pete Jolly was a contributing factor, but this harkens back to the feel of the Art 20 years or so before, no neo-Coltrane touches. Quote

Go for Vol.4 with some outstanding work by Russ Freeman .... and Art Pepper's performance on "Angel Eyes" is worth the ticket of entry alone .... Quote

No surprise that Norris and Mraz play wonderfully -- but this LP also features some of the best playing from Ronnie Bedford that I've heard.
