Visited my Dad today. Had to answer questions about my travels and health and have my temperature taken just to get past the lobby of his assisted-living place. Sigh. It's going to be an interesting few years. . . .

Listened to two different piano trios today, both excellent, but very different.

First the David Hazeltine Trio "The Jobim Songbook in New York" Cheesy SACD.

Then Randy Weston Trio, "Piano a la Mode" Jubilee Records Japan cd.

I remember I saw this in the stores when it came out. Somehow I hesitated to buy it, I think I was not sure wether it had an original BN cataloge number and I thought it might be "a sampler".

But now as I see it´s Cecil Payne on it, that ´s interesting. I dont think Cecil Payne made many recording dates for BN.

Six Views of the Blues is an excellent session, recorded in 1958 but shelved & not released until 1999.

And, yes, it is fun to hear Cecil Payne with Jimmy Smith. :tup
