HutchFan Posted November 27, 2020 Report Posted November 27, 2020 Richard Beirach - Breathing of Statues (CMP, 1982) Stunning solo piano. Inward and intense. Quote

Gheorghe Posted November 27, 2020 Report Posted November 27, 2020 All Hank Mobley records are fine, this is particularly fine with Curtis Fuller and McCoy Tyner. Quote
HutchFan Posted November 27, 2020 Report Posted November 27, 2020 Now spinning: I've enjoyed this CD for many years. It's a persuasive overview of Ford's recordings for Muse -- probably more persuasive than any of the individual LPs he made for label (although I don't have all of them). Quote

Still for me his best solo work is to be found on Kip Hanrahan`s "Desire Develops An Edge" (American Clave) from 1982 .... Quote
Justin V Posted November 27, 2020 Report Posted November 27, 2020 This is a crowd pleaser. My wife gets Christmas music, which I generally dislike, my daughter loves Pass (as do I) and I get a musically satisfying album. Quote

soulpope Posted November 27, 2020 Report Posted November 27, 2020 Near time re-play .... bought as new release in the late 70`s but didn`t bother too much back than .... excellent Sy Johnson arrangements and superb soloing (John Handy, Don Pullen) makes this a clear winner nowadays .... Quote

Justin V Posted November 27, 2020 Report Posted November 27, 2020 (edited) I'm listening to an Art Blakey concert from 1973 from Wolfgang's Vault. The band: Carter Jefferson, Eddie Henderson, Curtis Fuller, Cedar Walton, Mickey Bass and Ray Mantilla. The kicker? Sonny Stitt guesting on every song and Roy Haynes joining in on 'Night in Tunisia'. Wolfgang's Vault added a $10 credit to members' accounts for Black Friday. I downloaded this and a Giants of Jazz Newport gig. There are so many great concerts up.
