Tubby and Kirk? I'm curious, impressions?

It's very good. Tubby plays tenor, flute and vibes, Kirk does his thing and there is a really nice piece where both Tub and Kirk play flute. The piano trio backing them is just right--letting the stars shine, and then swinging nicely in their own segments.

PS: I was remembering wrongly about the Columbia cd, that is another session. I also have this in the Kirk Mercury box, but it doesn't sound this good.

I guess, I should've read the "and many more!" portion on the back of the box, lols.

Dueling flutes make sense. I just bought the Kirk boxset last year, and never realized I have this session. I have to sort through it, as the jewel cases nor booklet make it an easy find.

It’s been too long since I listened to Billie and I saw this one on the shelf and popped it in.

Yeah, the Columbia is confusing, which I have, but I think (it's packed in a box) it's an Epic titled labeled "Tubbs" if memory serves me right.

The Columbia is called Tubby Hayes/Clark Terry "The New York Sessions" and was originally "Tubbs in New York" on lp

The Columbia is called "The New York Sessions" and is with the one and only Clark Terry.

Right, that's the Columbia repackaging.  I also got the session wrong , it's this:

It's great.

Experienced that one as an LP back in the day. Immediately and permanently imprinted. Still my favorite Billie Verve, and some of my favorite Ben, period.

This one is popular in Jazz reddit at the moment. It is essentially background music with a hip hop influence. It is Muzak really, but with a sense of self importance.
