The latter is half batá drumming and Cuban Oru del Igbodu chanting, half like Los Hombres Calientes. Munyungo is acoustic Latin Jazz. Soundwise, they are all high end hifi with extreme dynamics in natural acoustics. Jazz-wise, the two James Leary albums are top, IMO. One with trio or quartet with Billy Childs, Ralph Penland, and Eddie Harris in top form, one with five bassists, piano, and drums - Leary's highly original treatments of the bass choir, if you are into that. Thanks! Quote

jazzbo Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 The cold is back, with a little snow, sigh. I’m fighting off a cold–just like the last time she was sick, Lucinda is finally feeling better, and I’m coming down with what ailed her. Starting off with Dave McMurray “Grateful Deadications 2” Blue Note cd 200×200 87.1 KB When I first spun this one I was a little disappointed, but that has turned into regarding this as a fun disc.
