Wow -  what a voice! Her early recordings are a treat. My discovery of the year from long ago jazz.

I’m getting used to the cold mornings. At least no snow on the horizon for the rest of the week.

I started the day with Paula Morelenbaum “Berimbaum”–one of my absolute favorite recordings. It has it all.

 

 

And then on to one of my favorites in the Toshiba TOCJ 24 bit by RVG series, Pete La Roca “Basra”

This cd has two of my favorite jazz guitarists on it, Boogaloo Joe Jones, and Melvin Sparks (not together, each on a separate session).

Cold again, but brighter this morning. All the leaves are almost gone. . . that is a sad sign winter will soon be upon us.

Starting off with a Keystone Trio cd on Milestone, “Heartbeats.” This is a trio of masters! John Hicks, bassist George Mraz, and drummer Idris Muhammad. Freddie Cole sings on one track.
