duaneiac
Disc 5 of 6. What a thrill hearing this big band effortlessly rip through Fletcher Henderson's magnificent "Down South Camp Meeting". It's a busy chart and the band's recorded version is superb, but it's even more amazing to hear these guys nail that chart "live" without even breaking a sweat. Sure this band, like all Goodman bands, could swing, but this band, unlike most later Goodman big bands, had swagger (and justifiably so). Peter Friedman
Disc 1 - Recorded between 1940 - 1945. Her real name was Doris Mary Ann von Kappelhoff. George Simon of Metronome called this "a wholesome joining of the ice cream soda girl with the ice cream soda band."
JSngry
and everybody loves ice cream! np, first and probably last time... shoulda listened to it when I bought it, might have been more interested. But that Steve White guy, not too bad. (and yes, I already have - and have heard - his other OJC, as well as his Liberty LP.)
