An interesting West Coast album listed  with main artist

- Dodo Marmarosa

- Lorraine Geller

but is in fact a Shorty Rogers Item recorded 1953 & 1953 at the Lighthouse.

Item was produced and issued in Japan only on the Vantage label (Bob Andrews licensed).

@Gheorghe I am listening to the Ella Fitzgerald Harold Arlen Songbook, drinking sparkly, and watching the train go around the tree.  Superb arrangements by the great Billy May! Give this one another chance!

Well I´ll do ! thank you ! But it must be a certain mood and a certain amount of time when I´m not listening to figure out, but just listening. One thing is sure, it swings. But my first choice if I felt like listening to Ella always was the "Ella and Basie".

It's an excellent record.

"Song for Barry" is my favorite track. Have it also in a great live version

Too bad there is no recordings of the Earl Hines Band that had so much young talent in it. I think it was also Budd Johnson, and some who later became bop stars, including Billy Eckstine and Sarah Vaughn also.....

Yes.  The closest thing that we have are the Billy Eckstine band recordings from 1944-1945.  But Bird wasn't present on any of those.

Philip Catherine with Paulo Morello & Sven Faller - Pourquoi (Enja/Yellowbird)

Subtle, wonderful sounds on electric guitar, nice flow, gorgous pieces -
PC is a gentle giant on this late masterpiece
