Although the new SHM-SACD and cd versions of this sound fantastic, I still really like the sound of this Japanese RVG cd. 👍 Processing Ozzy/Black Sabbath Earlier: Now: Sorry, should've been allocated to the rock file. jazzbo Posted July 27 Report Posted July 27 Warm and humid morning after some early morning rain. Feeling a bit sticky and sad. Miss my little dachshund audio companion some mornings more than others. Starting off with a new arrival, the King Jazz CTI “Alltime Collection” George Benson/Joe Farrell “Benson & Farrell” CTI Japan cd. A smooth selection to ease into the day. Quote

jazzbo Posted July 28 Report Posted July 28 This night was a hot one! Didn’t sleep as well as I’d like but 's alright. Starting off with a disc I’ve neglected long enough, Horace Tapscott “Dark Tree,” the second disc. Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 28 Report Posted July 28 Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra - Allégresse (Enja). This is my favorite recording by this phenomenal band, who I still try to see whenever they come to Boston. The opening track, "Hang Gliding" is just perfect in the way it evokes the feeling of flying through the sky. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 28 Report Posted July 28 Planet Jazz - In Orbit (Sharp Nine). This was the debut recording for Planet Jazz. The also cut a live date for the SmallsLIVE label that I never did pick up. This incarnation of Planet Jazz is Joe Magnarelli (tp), Grant Stewart (ts), Peter Berstein (g), Spike Wilner (p), Neal Miner (b) and Joe Strasser (d). Quote
Peter Friedman Posted July 28 Report Posted July 28 Scott Hamilton plays in top form here. No hint of Coltrane or Rollins in his tenor work. No long lines of 8th notes played rapidly. Just a lovely sound with beautiful music from the heart. Quote
