Kurt Anderson Posted July 1, 2025 Report Posted July 1, 2025 (edited) Jake H.Conception's Resa. A filipino who was a well-regarded alto saxophonist in the J-Pop world of the seventies and eighties, Resa was probably Conception's jazziest record. Edited July 1, 2025 by Kurt Anderson Quote
jazzbo Posted July 1, 2025 Report Posted July 1, 2025 My wife decided to be up early and listen with me on this somewhat stuff morning. Started off with Eliane Elias “Time and Again” on Candid cd . . . the new “innovation” here is many more mult-tracked Elias voices to form a chorus . . . interesting. . .she’s done this before but more prevalent here. Also, all tunes are originals by Elias and her husband Marc Johnson. And then on to Ruby Braff “For the Last Time” Arbors Jazz 2 cd, disc 2. Sad to know this was his last recorded performance, but it’s a good one–Scott Hamilton was a great front line partner for him, and John Bunch is a fine pianist. Quote
jazzbo Posted July 1, 2025 Report Posted July 1, 2025 “Jazz Conversations: The Other Side of Monday Michiru” Toshiko Akiyoshi with her daughter Monday Michiru. An excellent album spoiled a bit by the “loudness/compression” mastering. Quote
