Tenor saxophonist Willie Williams

Listening tonight  to Art Taylor's ""Wailin' at the Village Vanguard," I wondered whether any knew what the talented Williams was up to. I have a nice 1992 album of his "Spirit Willie," and there are two others under his own name, but the most recent is from 2007.

'heard him not too long ago with Papo Vazquez' band at the Chicago jazz fest.

He has been playing with TS Monk for a long time.

I haven't seen Willie in many years, but when I did, he never played two horns at once like he does here:

I only have Comet Ride, but it's excellent and features the superb drummer Rudy Walker. I don't think Willie plays in the city all that much, at least from what the NYC Jazz Record calendar tells me.
