JSngry Posted September 20, 2018 Report Posted September 20, 2018 I started reading them when they were Radio Free Jazz. They had good writers, and were the home to the last outputs of Stanley Dance (which was a fascinating thing to watch). I read Jazz Times too for a good long bit, although I've not been interested for quite a while now. Still, quite a contribution. RIP. Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 20, 2018 Report Posted September 20, 2018 Yes quite a contribution and life involved in the music in one way or another. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted September 20, 2018 Report Posted September 20, 2018 Good size obit in the Washington Post too, that my wife passed along to me (which I still need to read). Quote
J.A.W. Posted September 20, 2018 Report Posted September 20, 2018 Very sorry to hear this. Did quite a bit of business with him back in the 1970s. Quote
Peter Friedman Posted September 21, 2018 Report Posted September 21, 2018 I too began with Radio Free Jazz and then on to Jazz Times. Like Jim, I dropped off from reading it quite some time ago. Sorry to hear the sad news. Quote
