sgcim
I just heard from a friend of his that he passed away April 2. He was the pianist/arranger/composer for Woody Herman back in the mid 80s, and was Rosemary Clooney's accompanist/musical director for nineteen years. He appears on a bunch of Concord records with Scott Hamilton, also. Both he and a pianist friend of mine played in Jimmy Giuffre's band at NYU, and studied with Don Friedman. RIP... duaneiac
The above video is cued up to a rather fitting performance by Rosemary Clooney accompanied by John Oddo, may he rest in peace.
Mark Stryker
Man, that's a helluva great performance -- she really did get better and better with age. RIP to both John and Rosemary, and thanks for posting. Edited April 5, 2019 by Mark Stryker
