Dave James Posted June 10, 2019 Report Posted June 10, 2019 Thought some long time posters might enjoy this walk down memory lane. Quote
ghost of miles Posted June 11, 2019 Report Posted June 11, 2019 A pretty remarkable testament to this forum that it's still around and active. Back in 2003-04 no Facebook, no Twitter, very little cellphone-driven Internet activity... bulletin boards and even blogs now to some extent considered passe. This place is definitely my online home. GA Russell Posted June 11, 2019 Report Posted June 11, 2019 Jim, that was my first thought as well! Quote

Gheorghe Posted June 11, 2019 Report Posted June 11, 2019 My first thought also was Fats Navarro´s composition, based on "Out of Nowhere". A very nice line and I think it comes near to what Fats Navarro said that he just would like to create a perfect melody, his own..... Quote

The rarer 2nd take is even better than the master, IMO. Quote
mjzee Posted June 12, 2019 Report Posted June 12, 2019 Yeah, I love this site too. It persists because we discuss substance. The bulletin board format so suits what we do. I wish there was a way to create some sort of index. Quote
Peter Friedman Posted June 12, 2019 Report Posted June 12, 2019 Just for fun, I checked to see who else, among my favorites, recorded Nostalgia. Found these on my shelves. Hank Mobley -Savoy, Charles McPherson - Prestige, Sam Noto - Xanadu, Howard McGhee/Benny Bailey - Storyville, Art Farmer - Soul Note, Frank Strazzeri - Fresh Sound, Rein de Graaff - Timeless, Conte Candoli - Fresh Sound, Andrew Scott - Sackville.
