Rabshakeh Posted December 1, 2021 Report Posted December 1, 2021 I've heard that Alvin Lucier's death has now been announced. I saw him perform once, on a whim, at Exeter's Phoenix Art Centre, about 20 years ago. It remains one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. An obvious and huge influence on many modern musicians, including Yoshihide Otomo and John Butcher, to name just two. RIP Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted December 1, 2021 Report Posted December 1, 2021 (edited) "I Am Sitting in a Room" is brilliant. RIP. Edited December 1, 2021 by Teasing the Korean Quote

T.D. Posted December 1, 2021 Report Posted December 1, 2021 RIP, very sad. Earlier this year I listened to sections of his 90th birthday I am sitting in a room marathon: https://issueprojectroom.org/event/i-am-sitting-room-alvin-luciers-90th-birthday-celebration Quote
BFrank Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 Had a chance to see him at the Big Ears Festival a few years ago. I opted for a different show. Sorry I missed him. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted November 19, 2022 Report Posted November 19, 2022 I was fortunate recently to find a CD of the 1970 version of I Am Sitting in a Room for only $2.99. The kind of music that demands your undivided attention. Quote
