Rooster_Ties
===== http://www.jamiecullum.com/ Go to the "music" section to sample several MP3's. He sounds like a "Harry Connick Jr." wanna-be, to me... Edited April 24, 2003 by Rooster_Ties
Joe G
He seems humble enough. Best of luck to him. Things ain't always what they seem....
JohnS
His cd Pointless Nostalgic sums him up for me. Pointless especially.
Ed S
The next Peter Cincotti perhaps??? I still remember the post by that spammer on BN about Peter Cincotti. I jokingly referred to his claim that Cincotti was the best 19 year piano phenom by remarking "You mean there's more than one? I need to get out more " It seems that once again the joke is on me. JohnS
From the amount of airplay on BBC Radio 2 this weekend he is now the darling of the easy listening set.
JohnS
Here's a quote from Cullum from the London Daily Telegraph "I'm not playing hardcore free jazz. This is a lot more modern"

Robert J
High tea with the Queen: "I've never been into royalty," he adds, "but I was, like, bowing and saying, 'Hello, Your Majesty, please don't cut off my head." "Cullum is tipped to bring a new, young audience to jazz, a genre usually more associated with chin-stroking than underwear-throwing. " "Take Norah Jones's stuff. It's nice, but it's nice acoustic music. It's not jazz." http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/entertainmen...rticles/5293018

RonF
He's hardly an unknown. Just released his second (I think) on Verve 3 or 4 months ago. Super hyped, millions in promotion. Been on all the American morning and late night talk. Peter Cincotti, Harry Jr. with some snazzier r&b piano chops and he's supposedly very electric in live performance. Quite the entertainer. Although talented, he still sounds like he's in high school to me.
AllenLowe
yes, but he's probably in the advanced class -
