BruceH Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 The Monterose is a gem, isn't it? I'm still waiting on the Monterose, but I really like his playing on Kenny Dorhams Round About Midnight At The Cafe Bohemia. I like that too. I also really think you're going to like his eponymous Blue Note album. Quote

The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 you absolutely HAVE to look for this one here: I think that one was reissued on a twofer LP on Impulse, coupled with a Sonny Criss (his Peacock LP?). Can't remember the title of the twofer. MG Quote
king ubu Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 The KD was also reissued on CD in the Chessmates series. Not sure if it still can be found in that version, but it's worth trying! I still dream of seing Vol. 2 some day... Quote

Can't remember the title of the twofer. MG Somewhere I have the 2LP ( Bop-masters ?) set you mention. It was part of a long numbered series of Impulse reissues. Sound is no better than the CD issue. papsrus Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Joe Harriott -- "Free Form" I was led to this in a roundabout way after reading the Wildflowers thread, reading Allen's comments on Hemphill, listening to samples from his "Big Band" album -- which is on my wish list now -- and landing somehow on Vandermark's "Straight Lines" album, which is a tribute to Harriott. Looking forward to this one. Quote
