JSngry Posted September 10 Author Report Posted September 10 The Tigers have oh so quietly snuck up into the outermost fringe of the Wild Card race. Next year might be interesting?!?! Quote
soulpope Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 Kumar Rocker .... it was worth the wait .... Quote
JSngry Posted September 13 Author Report Posted September 13 Yes, that was fun! And they won the game! Quote
JSngry Posted September 15 Author Report Posted September 15 Brewers are a good team! But what's up with the Tigers? 2.5 out of the WC now? I've had a great time watching them start to gel, but certainly wasn't expecting this at this late date? Sure, Twins have had a rough week or so, but to gain ground you gotta win games... It'll end at some point, but it's fun to watch until it does. Just a bunch of kids having fun, playing hard, and figuring stuff out in real time. Quote

As a Yankee fan I’m extremely grateful to them for besting the Orioles in the series that ended today. They’re on track to post their first winning record since Hinch took over. My feelings about the “Trashtro” era aside, he was a great hire for Detroit coming off his suspension. Good to see the Tigers make a WC run… and WCs can even lead to WSs! Also pretty wild that Ohtani seems a good bet (sorry, I couldn’t resist green smiley) to become the first player to hit 50 HRs and steal 50 bases in the same season. Quote
JSngry Posted September 16 Author Report Posted September 16 Not expecting a Tigers WC spot (check their remaining schedule...), but am very much enjoying the whole emergence thing. So much more fun for me than the slobbering superstar push notifications that are always hitting my phone There will always be superstar exploits, but how often do you see a whole team of young. more or less home-grown talent pop up out of "nowhere" and play real baseball as a real team? Especially after starting the season with such a dismal performance? Plus - Jason Benetti!!! Quote

Off course he is one of the superstars .... you can bet 😇 .... believe baseball has to uphold a "clean shield", so his story was not helpful in this regard to say the least .... Quote
GA Russell Posted September 18 Report Posted September 18 In 1894, Hugh Duffy of the Boston Beaneaters became the first player to get 85 extra-base hits and steal 45 bases in a season. ghost of miles Posted September 19 Report Posted September 19 (edited) Yankees benefitted two nights in a row from Mariner mishaps involving runners at third. Tuesday night, with bases loaded on a 3-0 count and Yankee starter Luis Gil seemingly unable to find the strike zone, Victor Robles decided to try to steal home: https://www.mlb.com/gameday/745205/video/luis-gil-throws-out-victor-robles-at-home And last night, after Randy Arozarena lost control of his bat while striking out, Julio Rodriguez, apparently not realizing that the ball was still live, got picked off: https://www.mlb.com/gameday/745199/video/ian-hamilton-swinging-strike-to-randy-arozarena-s8yzbu Edited September 19 by ghost of miles Quote

JSngry Posted September 19 Author Report Posted September 19 Orioles and Mariners both have been trying their best to fold. Tigers-Orioles series this weekend will be a real test for both teams. In the NL, the Padres continue to play strong. Wouldn't want to bet for or against them, but they are going to be interesting until they aren't. Congrats to the Brewers. More Amy! Quote

Dan Gould Posted September 21 Report Posted September 21 At the ASB the Red Sox were 11 games over .500 (season high) and now sit 2 games below. Has any "contender" pissed away a season like that in recent memory? Now my rooting interest is in a total collapse on their remaining games (Minnesota, Toronto and the Rays) so they can tumble back to where they rightly belong, last place for the fourth year running. I listened to the last few innings of that game and the Red Sox announcers were politely painting a picture of total and abject suckitude, yes. Quote

For approximately the last 30 days, maybe longer, they are 29th or 28th in the league in every offensive category. The defense sucked all year long except CF and RF and when the starters were OK the bullpen sucked donkey d*cks and vice versa. Now they just all suck all around. I hate getting suckered into believing something that was never real. Quote

That's why I dropped the Rangers after the ASB. Sure, too many injuries and some seriously underperforming offense, it was obvious to me that this was going to be a lost season. But all the broadcast propaganda was talking about no, don't give up yet, this thing is about to get right. Don't try to bullshit a bullshitter, right? Upside was letting loose to freerange MLB TV. That's been a real vacation of travel. Especially the sunshine of a starting West Coast game when it's darkness outside here! Quote
JSngry Posted September 22 Author Report Posted September 22 So, what, now the skies of Boston are weeping in shame? Quote
