Music on CD Label?

They are legit and licensed by Sony.  I have a couple of their sets and they are well executed.  Excellent prices. I don't have the cds handy but I believe they are regular cds, not cd-r.

Dexter Gordon's Complete Columbia Albums Collection, 7 CD's in the original album format. There is also a 9-cd Duke Ellington Complete Columbia Studio Albums Collection 1951-1958.  Paul Desmond Complete RCA Albums Collection 1962-1965, Nina Simone Complete RCA Albums  and a few others.

They do licensed reissues of discs that the major labels let go out of print. They’re real CDs, not CD-Rs. There’s a local store that stocks some of these and I bought “The Gregg Allman Tour” which I missed when it was reissued about 20 years ago. Very pleased with it. Think I might have another title as well but can’t remember. If the price is right, go for it.

I was trying to find a copy of Miles Davis Directions and a recent release on this Dutch label popped up.

Is this licensed from SONY? I assume it is a CD-R unless proven otherwise.

Is there anything on Directions that's not on any other cd?  It was important in its time because of the first Miles with guitar which I don't think anyone knew about.

Eventually the tracks ended up on various boxes but some of them I got as MP3s only because I did not buy the boxes for which I already had most of the material.

I will check tomorrow to see which tracks I am actually missing and which I have in boxes. I was thinking it would be nice to have the set on CD as it originally came out on LP but it is not a Holy Grail of any sorts. I always liked that particular set which I have on vinyl.

Good to know this version is legit and a real CD. If they did the Plugged Nickel Box that would be a coup. Missed that one.

PS: Looked it up, that was fast. The six tracks I have as MP3s only are Song Of Our Country, Water On The Pond, Fun, Duran, Konda and Willie Nelson.

I forgot I had Ascent, Directions I and Directions II in the Silent Way box. Will still probably get the Directions set for nostalgia's sake. It was part of my early Jazz education. The Circle in the Round set as well, which is one of the first CDs I ever bought. Directions was not available on CD in the US at the time.

PS: I think Duran is the very last studio track that Wayne Shorter ever recorded with Miles (3/17/70). The last live dates are 3/7/70 which was released officially, and the July 1991 Paris concert which is long overdue for a legit release which I would buy.
