Rooster_Ties Posted August 14, 2025 Report Posted August 14, 2025 I know there were a small handful of Blue Note covers -- mostly later 'King' Japanese covers, iirc, that also had "negatives" as part of the album cover. (And, YES, I'd like to be reminded of all of them -- seems like there was a Dexter Gordon, and maybe(?) a Wayne Shorter too? Were there others? -- I'm forgetting.) But first and foremost, the main one I'm thinking of is Action Action Action -- but was it the ONLY classic-era (non-Japanese-exclusive) Blue Note cover with a "negative"? And, of course, this is a general thread to add any and all covers you can think of -- jazz, or otherwise -- that include "negatives" on the cover (or back cover, or inside cover, or whatever). Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted August 15, 2025 Author Report Posted August 15, 2025 OK, maybe(?) I was thinking of Jackie McLean's Tippin' The Scales -- which on first glance sorta(?) looks like a negative -- but really isn't actually... Quote

Tupelo Recording Company TUPLP6 [1989] Such a great cover photo (and the album isn't too shabby either). I remember buying that on cassette, Sub Pop issue, in the fall of 1991, maybe days after I picked up Nevermind. Quote
