MPS Japanese Reissues

Some very desirable MPS albums being reissued on Ultra Vybe CD's in October.  The three I'm thrilled by are Billy Harper - Trying to Make Heaven My Home, Hannibal Marvin Peterson - Hannibal, and Hannibal Marvin Peterson - Hannibal in Berlin.  I'm going the Dusty Groove pre-order route on those three rather than risking CDJapan reciprocal tariff chaos, despite their much lower unit prices ($13.50 rather than DG's $18.99)/

Thanks. I saw a bunch of October Ultra-Vybes on DG earlier today (mostly Bluiett) but didn't get to those titles.

Agreed on ordering procedure. Four to five CDs used to be about my "line in the sand" for cdjapan (lower price but higher shipping) vs. DG. But I can't imagine various entities getting their s**t together any time soon. And Japanese reissues are generally carpe diem.

For sure.  You have to pre-order to be safe.

The Hannibal is one of my favorite records. For our cd only folks: the only reissue up till now is pretty rare and expensive. The Berlin record is also great

Yes, it was the first album for which I ever bought a download, since the rare CD was out of reach.

There was also a first batch of MPS/Solid reissues in July: https://www.discogs.com/label/4255262-凄!!JAZZ-MPS . Some interesting titles here, several on CD for the first time (Gordon Beck, Mel Lewis, Solal, etc.).

this one hadn’t had an official cd release till now and is highly recommended as well
