RIP, I still remember arriving to Austin decades ago and seeing Jimmy Cliff painted on a wall across the street from UT-Austin.  The painting is still there.

Too bad. The Harder They Come is an awesome movie.

He sang one of the most ravishing ballads in pop music: "Many Rivers to Cross"  
This song and Cliff´s soulful way in which he intonated it remains forever.

Never saw the movie, but have had the soundtrack since the early 80s.  Just played it last night.  RIP
