mhatta Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I didn’t know The Visitors had a third album. I’ve heard "In My Youth" because it was released on CD, and I think "Rebirth" hasn’t been released on CD, but I’ve heard it too, and it’s one of my favorites. I’d really like to give it a listen. I think they were very talented composers. Quote

Their first, 'Neptune', came out on Cobblestone, then 'In My Youth', 'Rebirth', and 'Motherland' followed on Muse after Cobblestone reverted to Muse. I agree that 'Rebirth' is the pick, but all are good albums, and only 'In My Youth' saw CD issue. These albums would have made a nice Mosaic Select back in the day. Quote

I suggested this and a Carlos Garnett Select to Michael Cuscuna and if I recall correctly, he said they wouldn't sell. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Those would sell now, but at the time, post-Coltrane modal jazz wasn't really moving units like it currently does. I also remember a time when those records were cheap and nobody cared... Quote

Catalyst, Buster Williams, and Vic Juris Horizon Drive were the only ones sold at a premium because of hip hop samples. I also got an original copy Sun Ra's Lanquidity for $20 so it was a different time. Quote
