  5. As Chewy said, this band plays frequently here in Seattle. I've been meaning to catch them.
  6. In the mid-1960's my high school friends and I bought hundreds of used LPs at "Puss 'n Books" on University Way in Seattle. Most of the albums were rubber stamped "$2.00," but the real price was $1.60.
  7. An excellent choice. I used this on my radio show last night.

    Mary Halvorson

"Code Girl" is excellent. Mary is continuing to develop her sound. Ambrose Akinmusire shines all the way through. I'm not usually into vocals on "progressive jazz" recordings, but the art-song vocals here are pretty good -- much better than those on Mary's CD with Jessica Pavone. As far as I can tell, "Code Girl" is the name of the double CD, not of the band.
  9. This seems like a good time to read up on Watergate. This is one of the better books about it. Parts of it are just like what we've been hearing on the news .
  10. A great loss, but what a huge career he had. This week on my show on KBCS-FM in the Seattle area, I played almost two hours of Randy Weston's music. It's in the station's audio archive: https://www.kbcs.fm/programs/straight-no-chaser/ The playlist is posted on my Organissimo thread, here:
