  4. +2nd time caught = career over Currently there's much more reward for cheaters than risk; hence the PED era continues. 1 year suspension first time caught, followed by expulsion for 2nd offence would make it a very difficult decision for anyone to mess with this stuff. Melky get's his 50 game suspension after best #'s for his career....Giants kick him to the curb, yet Toronto signs him multi-year for really good money. Cheater Braun takes his 65 day suspension [3-4 million vacation for a team that's going nowhere], yet PED'd his way to his $120 million contract that he gets paid for no matter what happens from this point forward. cincinnati(on the road) will bat last in one of the games. has that ever been done in mlb history???? Yes,,,,,it's a make up rained-out game that was a Reds home game initially, so they batted last in the visiting ball park.
  5. 07/14 90.5FM KSJS San Jose and http://www.ksjs.org - 6-10 AM Pacific Time — Artist interview takes the final hour of the program with a Q&A with our guest followed by exclusive play from his new release. Trombonist/composer/arranger/educator and one of the nicest gentlemen on the planet, Professor Wayne Wallace (one of the best & brightest in the SF Bay Area) joins me with his latest album on his very own Patois Records label
  6. I'm a big Eskelin fan but I think he's better when he plays uptempo or free or out than when he's playing ballads. Fwiw one ballad every other set is a-ok with me. More than that and I'm pining for groove and fire My closest friend, who I've attended hundreds of concerts with, practically hates it when a ballad is played. Somewhat like you that he' LOVES the drummers and wants to see them work out all the time. The only guy he's every likes playing brushes is Elvin Jones, who could get those crackin' when he wanted to.
  7. 07/07 90.5FM KSJS San Jose and http://www.ksjs.org 6-10 AM Pacific Time Artist interview takes the final hour of the program with a Q&A with our guest followed by exclusive play from his/her new release. Vibraphonist, band leader. composer, and one of my favorite musicians, Joe Locke joins me to discuss his latest album, which comes to us from Motema Records!
  8. As learned in recent years, it's really the campaign put forth by the supporters of the eventual recipients that get's them in; in Mr. Davis' case apparently someone has been in his corner!
  9. 90.5FM KSJS San Jose and www.ksjs.org 6-10 AM Pacific Time Artist interview takes the final hour of the program with a Q&A with our guest followed by exclusive play from his/her new release. 06/30 [Our Final JazzCorner message board entry] Saxophonist/Composer/Bandleader Noah Preminger has this very fine album on Palmetto-Records
  10. I had the good fortune to see him a number of times over the years....RIP That iconic 'growl' of his and could sing as sweet as a bird too. Very disappointed about a month ago, was looking forward to seeing him in concert, which was cancelled due to health reasons......now this.
  11. Steve, Clarification please? Not sure how much you really like the band; are they one of the greatest, or one of the *greatest*?
  12. Most [not all but the vast majority] of my guests have a new or recent release that's in play at the time they come on, so I'd have to say we'll wait until autumn for Gregory.
  13. 90.5FM KSJS San Jose and www.ksjs.org 6-10 AM Pacific Time Artist interview takes the final hour of the program with a Q&A with our guest followed by exclusive play from his/her new release. 06/23 Vocalist/keyboardist Davell Crawford scheduled to join us with his latest album on Basin Street Records.
  14. When I was at a game in Calgary, I happened to actually READ my ticket stub. It's printed on it that, by buying a ticket, I absolve the NHL, or the associated members of any responsibility for injuries that may occur should I be hit by any puck etc. while watching a game. I had no idea......................but I stayed and wasn't hit by a puck etc. By merely attending, you are accepting the possibility that you may suffer an injury. Hmmmm... You get the same at a baseball game for balls, bats, and misc. items leaving the field and going into the stands.
  15. 90.5FM KSJS San Jose and www.ksjs.org 6-10 AM Pacific Time Artist interview takes the final hour of the program with a Q&A with our guest followed by exclusive play from his/her new release. 06/16 Trumpeter/Composer Terence Blanchard joins us on the next program to discuss his latest Blue Note release.
  16. Fair to say that the parking lot of the arena connected right next door to Giants Stadium was a huge gathering area if they had huge crowds.
  17. Not fair to say.....every team that started the Stanley Cup playoffs came from cities with very strong fan bases. Finals are on NBC. Of the 7 possible games all except games 2 & 3 are on NBC [ 2 & 3 on cable NBC Sports Network] ,and 2 Canadian networks
  18. I like this one quite a lot...they never disappoint and as CJ points out it would be hard to pick a fave. The trio is an improvising machine!
  19. So may of them fit the bill on all 3 counts, it would be a longer list than I could possibly recall. A number of them are people I've met like Russell and bandmate Bob Mintzer. He [Ferrante] attended San Jose State and the roots of the band are in this area, his entire family is from this area as well, and I've also done business with some of his relatives in the car business. One of my all time favorites (to choose one) was with Toots Theilmans. This was a session we taped in his hotel room, and as I asked various questions, a number of his answers came back as he picked up and played the harmonica or his guitar!
  20. Couldn't find a thread with this topic. I know how to embed video from Youtube at other places. My first attempt here the text link posted as opposed to the video. Thanks in advance for your help.
  21. This round overall is quite disappointing (other than B's /Pens game 3) and sorry to see suck lop_sided results. With no rooting interest, hoping one of the teams that are down make it interesting.
  22. Again, I am unable to defend against the untoward remarks on that JC link in Post #1, Mike. Secondly, I think people here have the right to know what really happened, don't you? It is in the telling of that tale the understanding begins and the truth can be found. Without which it will continue to fester. I'm all for burying the hatchet, but not when it is in my head. Post #1 wherein the imminence of JC's forums closure is announced and the smack talk begins anew. Absolutely not to answer your question. This is the place and the time to let it all be done and gone......POOF!! In 3 weeks it won't even exist any more. Who gives a crap anymore really, except you? I don't know! THIRD BASE!! http://<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/airT-m9LcoY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
