clifford_thornton
Legendary trumpeter, composer and scene-maker Bill Dixon turns 80 today. Please wish him a happy birthday here!
sidewinder
Indeed, many happy returns of the day to Mr Dixon . I'll dig out my Savoy LP a bit later tonight. Hope he makes a return trip to play the UK again soon, having missed it the last time.
brownie
80? Probably getting some respect at that age! Hope he will have even more reasons to celebrate!

Chuck Nessa
Artistic repect from me. Personal respect is zero. He screwed me for about $400 bucks back in the '70s when we were both in Madison, and I think he's a great artist and personal creep. clifford_thornton
Umm... back to the original post, ahem. I still have yet to undertake the task of transcribing a five-hour interview from August... he certainly called me to task in the process, and for that I respect him. As mercurial as he might be, I can't say he isn't one of the most interesting conversationalists and true intellectuals of this music that I've met. AndrewHill
He still owes me money from over 25 years ago. Fine artist, less than fine human. Can I ask why he owes you $400? Was it an advance or something like that? BTW, happy birthday Bill Dixon
