Dominique Fillon is current French Premier François Fillon's youngest brother. He even had a writeup in a recent issue of Paris-Match.

Heard his piano playing on a recent TV show. From what I heard briefly, I'll save my money!

Keeping an eye out for Larry Young's Contrasts.

Since we can assume BN U.S. is done putting out reissues, possibly forever, the Japanese will be our only source. Does anyone have a contact for someone involved in their reissue serries? Perhaps we could submit wish lists like we used to send Michael Cuscuna.

Like a lot of people here, I'm pretty much done with Blue Note and have moved on to other labels, but there are a few holes I still need to plug. I ordered Heaven On Earth from Dusty Groove (the bastards) and am waiting for Horace Parlan's Movin' And Groovin'.

Bertrand.

Thanks for the tip, that has one side with duets with Mosca and the other with Mosca and with bass and drums?, according to AMG anyway.

I don't suppose that you know anything about these two would you, one of which was out recently;

Warne Marsh: Personal Statement

And this one, which according to Amazon, is coming out in August;

Warne Marsh: Posthumous

short AMG review of Posthumous

Thanks for that, but I read it already, it didn't really go into that much detail and I was a bit freaked out when he included George Mraz in the "three good but not great musicians" statement, has anyone actually got it?, Susan Chen sounds like she might be interesting.

Firstly, the Posthumous album is lovely. It's a quartet album recorded in New York on March 15, 1985 with Warne backed by Susan Chen on piano, who's excellent, George Mraz on bass and Akira Tana on drums.

I've not heard the Personal Statement album but it's one I probably wouldn't bother with. I understand it was recorded three days before Warne died and consists of about 30 minutes of him playing unaccompanied sax solos. It sounds like it could have been a warm-up session for a recording that never took place.

Cheers Head Man, so "How High How Deep" & "Posthumous" it is then. I have to say I had a feeling that "Personal Statement" was the way you say it is when I say the track listing on AMG;

1 Introduction

2 Statement 1

3 Statement 2

4 Statement 3

5 Statement 4

6 Statement 5

Thanks again.

Does anyone have a US Distributor I can pre-order from? (Or even a reliable international one?)

UCCJ 2081 Ohnishi,Junko(p)/Baroque

New release of Junko Onishi always makes me happy.

Oh, I missed that. Any details on who's playing with her etc. Bentsy?

I'll e-mail Hiroshi ans ask him.

I received this e-mail message from Hiroshi:

Hi Bentsy,

Thanks for your message.

It's a new release,recorded in March 2010.

(b)RODNEY WHITAKER

(ds)HERLIN RILEY

(p)ONISHI JUNKO

(percussion)ROLAND GUERRERO

(tb)WYCLIFFE GORDON

Have a nice week and best wishes,

Hiroshi

Thanks Bentsy - it looks good. From the title I wondered whether it might have been a classical rather than jazz recording. It's on my list!

Have enjoyed the Warne Marsh 'Posthumous' Interplay CD for quite some time now. It came out in 1989!

Material from the same session was released by Storyville as 'Newly Warne'

51UmlXBCXDL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

The Storyville CD includes 'On a Slow Boat to China' which is not on the Interplay.

The Interplay has 'My Romance' and 'Second Hand Romance' which are not on the Storyville!

The Storyville CD is currently OOP, unfortunately :angry:

That's weird, strange that Storyville didn't add that session to the "Two Not One" set they did recently, they had some other Marsh "Solo" stuff on it, maybe their licence ran out. But I see from AMG that the Interplay release has more tracks, 10 as opposed to 9 on the Storyville, which is something. As a side note, 'Newly Warne' gets 4 out of 5 while 'Posthumous' gets 3 out of 5. :lol: :lol: :lol:
