Waymon Tisdale Bassist dies

11 posts in this topic

...has passed away. Loved him as an Indiana Pacer for several seasons...not so much as a smooth jazz artist! Met him on a handful of occasions as I use to do some photography for the Pacers years ago.....he was always smiling; wish more people were like him! Sorry to see him go.

I always knew him as a smooth jazz player. Regardless at 44, it was too young to die.

Damn. I recall reading about the lower leg amputation, but didn't know his health had gotten worse from there. RIP.

Jazz Bassist Waymon tisdale dies after a 2 year fight with cancer. I just did a gig with Waymons uncle and was told he died last night in a local hospital. I didn't really follow his music but he was long admired in the community and Oklahoma as an awesome baskeball star and recording artist. My prayers go out to his family.

I have:

In The Zone (1995)

and

Decisions (1998)

My Dad took our family to Norman quite a bit to watch him play basketball at OU. I met him and spoke to him briefly a few times over the years - like so many others have said, he was always very nice and had a big smile for everyone.

Shit, I didn't follow his music career so had no idea he was sick. Also didn't realize when I was watching him play he was only a couple of years older than me, damn.

RIP, Waymon.

edit for spelling

Not 100% certain

I believe I saw Tisdale play with the Suns in 1998

He's 3 years older than me

Tisdale and Durant are the only two freshman all americans

I'd probably add Lebron's name if he went to college
