Epistrophy Arts presents The Instant Composers Pool (ICP) @ North Door in Austin, Texas 5/14

Amsterdam’s 10-piece Instant Composers Pool (ICP) Orchestra has earned worldwide acclaim for its inventiveness, musical genius, and unpredictable stage antics. The group includes world-class improvisers Han Bennink on drums, Michael Moore on clarinet and alto saxophone, Ab Baars on clarinet and tenor saxophone, Tobias Delius on clarinet and tenor saxophone, Thomas Heberer on cornet, Wolter Wierbos on trombone, Tristan Honsinger on cello, Ernst Glerum on bass, Mary Oliver on viola, violin, vocals and Guus Janssen on piano.

Interesting that they are going with a piano player now (again). Don't know Guus Janssen at all.

With Misha, it seems to me it was as much about "wit" as about piano playing.

Nothing wrong with having a lot of both to work with. Misha is brilliant and a fun guy to hang out with. Sad to know he's ailing.

Now Orleans-ish to Austin via Houston is not a killer drive, at least not if you got Road Dog chops, which of course not everybody does, just some freaks do.

And you can fly on Southwest Airlines between New Orleans/Austin in 80-90 minutes.

I've seen them at least 5 times over the last 20 years; would be strange for me to see them without Misha behind the piano...

I heard someone say this is billed as a "farewell" tour for the ICP. Does anyone know if there's any substance to that?
