Stefan Wood
I just listened to this album today for the first time. He's referencing his father, especially the group Old and New Dreams. It's a stunner. With Ron Miles, Brian Blade, and Scott Colley. Might be one of my favorite albums released this year.
jlhoots
I like it too - more than I thought I would.
mjazzg
That gives me some hope. I had avoided it until now as Old and New Dreams are a favourite and couldn't see how Redman Jr. was going to pull this off. He's most definitely not his father

Stefan Wood
Good. It's like he took what they did and expanded upon it. Not a slavish imitation.
Д.Д.
Flurin, knowing a bit about your tastes, I don't think you will like it. It's too similar to Old and New Dreams - to a point of intentional copy (drums sound is very Blackwell, and Redman plays a lot of his father's licks), but the writing is definitely not on the same level. Well played, of course, but very safe. Sounds quite contrived and forced to me.
Guy Berger
I may check this out!
king ubu
Hm, okay ... maybe I'll get a chance to sample it someplace. Thanks all!

Utevsky
I really enjoyed this album, without needing to stop and ask whether it sounds too much like something else. I'm a fan of Ron Miles, so it's particularly cool to hear him on this CD.
7/4
I heard it on NPR's First Listen before it came out. I dug it...I don't own it yet, but I'd listen to it again.

SMB1968
I like Ron Miles a lot, but I really don't think he's a good fit for this group. When I saw them live his distinctive "ease into it" style made him seem just a step too slow, for lack of a better way of describing it, to gel with this bunch. Damn good outfit, though.
